ABU DHABI, 25 October / WAM / The organizing committee of the Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction announced the names of the winners of the auction of imposing dates and honey competitions (sidr, sammar, wax, liquid, crystallized), which took place within the fourth session of the festival, which is held in Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra region, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
His Excellency Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and His Excellency Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Festivals and Events Sector at the Authority, crowned the winners of the auction, in the presence of a number of producers, farmers, and enthusiasts of heritage competitions.
The auction of dates resulted in “Saeed Hamouda Khamis Al-Eryani” winning first place, while “Sultan Saeed Muhammad Sultan Al-Eryani” won second place, “Hamad Salem Humaid Aqeef Al-Shamsi” came in third place, followed by “Matar Ali Muftah Muhammad Al-Shamsi” in fourth place, while “Humaid Saeed Muhammad Sultan Al-Eryani” won fifth place.
The organizing committee allocated ten prizes to the winners of the auction with a total value of 280,000 dirhams, including 75,000 dirhams for the first place winner, 50,000 dirhams for the second place, and 40,000 dirhams for the third place.
In the Sidr Honey Competition (local race), “Saeed Muhammad Saeed Ali Al Yamahi” won first place, second place went to “Ahmed Hamad Sibaa Saeed Al Nuaimi”, third place went to “Saif Subaih Saeed Subeih Al Kaabi”, fourth place went to “Khaled Muhammad Hamad Ali Al Kaabi”, and fifth place went to “Musabah Matar Hamdan Rashid Al Washahi”.
The results of the crystallized honey competition (open round) showed that “Khaled Musaed Muhaisen Al-Ghazi” won first place, “Ziyad Ali Abdullah Al-Dakheili” came in second place, and third place went to “Ahmed Suleiman Rashid Obaid Al-Ghaithi.”
In the honey wax competition (open round), “Mishaal Musaed Muhammad Al-Harithi” won first place, “Faleh Saeed Faleh Al-Shahrani” came in second place, and third place went to “Manahel bin Mohsen Al-Asmari.”
As for the Samar Honey competition (local race), first place was won by “Ali Khalifa Al-Dhib Al-Nuaimi”, second place was taken by “Salem Abdullah Salem Mohammed Al-Dahmani”, and third place went to “Khaled Abdullah Mohammed Humaid Al-Mazrouei”.
The first place in the liquid honey competition (open round) was won by “Saeed Faleh Al-Shahrani”, the second place was taken by “Ghala Muhammad Majiri”, and the third place went to “Faisal Mishal Al-Harthi”.
Ten prizes were allocated to the winners in each category of honey competitions, worth 95,000 dirhams. In the daily date auction, the “Zamili” variety recorded the highest selling value of 2,500 dirhams per box, while the total sales amounted to 208,670 dirhams, with a total quantity of 4,014 kilograms of dates distributed over 1,338 boxes.
