A war of words between the Americans and the Russians.. Is the world entering a terrible nuclear race?

Deputy Director of the Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Konstantin Vorontsov, denied Washington’s accusation that Moscow intends to start a nuclear arms race.

Vorontsov said during statements reported by media outlets: We reject all insinuations and accusations from the American side. We would like to emphasize that all Russian activities are consistent with its international legal obligations and are not directed against any State.

Some American officials had leveled accusations against Russia after testing the Burevestnik missile. That Moscow is intent on starting a nuclear arms race.
