The Arab Parliament and the Latin American Parliament welcome the holding of the Gaza Reconstruction Conference in Cairo

The Arab Parliament and the Parliament of Latin America and the Caribbean (Parlatino) welcomed the holding of the Gaza Reconstruction Conference scheduled for Cairo, and called on the countries of the world and relevant international institutions to actively contribute to the success of this conference and to provide the necessary funding to rebuild what the occupation destroyed.
This came in a joint statement issued today, Thursday, at the conclusion of the participation of Mr. Rolando Patricio, President of the Parliament of Latin America and the Caribbean, as a guest of honor in the Arab Parliament session of the second session of the fourth legislative term. Under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States.
The two sides stressed the depth of historical relations and close ties that unite the Arab region and the Latin American and Caribbean region, and the common interest in strengthening parliamentary cooperation and developing bilateral relations to broader horizons that serve the common interests of the peoples of both sides, based on the memorandum of cooperation signed between the two organizations.
They stressed the importance of continuing Strengthening consultation and joint coordination in various regional and international forums, and unifying positions on issues of common concern, renewing their commitment to support everything that would achieve security, stability and development in the Arab region and the Latin American and Caribbean region, and their categorical rejection of any external interference in the internal affairs of the countries of the two regions.
They stressed the necessity of establishing and continuing a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip based on the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement, and ensuring the unhindered access of humanitarian aid. To all regions of the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for the war crimes and genocide it committed against Palestinian civilians, and to hold it accountable before the competent international courts, in compliance with international humanitarian law and international legitimacy resolutions.
The two sides expressed their support for international and regional efforts aimed at reconstructing the Gaza Strip, and welcomed the holding of a reconstruction conference in Cairo, and called on the countries of the world and institutions
They also affirmed, once again, the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with the city of Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
He praised The two sides affirmed the positions of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean in support of the Palestinian cause and rejecting the policies of occupation and racial discrimination, stressing the importance of continuing these honorable positions, noting the importance of strengthening cooperation in the areas of sustainable development, combating poverty, achieving food and water security, shifting towards a green economy, and confronting common global challenges, most notably climate change.
The two sides noted the importance of activating multilateral parliamentary diplomacy, expanding channels of dialogue and exchanging legislative experiences. And institutional, in a way that enhances the capabilities of the two institutions in supporting the issues of the peoples of the two regions.
They also stressed the importance of enhancing cultural, educational and economic rapprochement between the Arab peoples and the peoples of Latin American and Caribbean countries, as it is an essential foundation for strengthening human ties and strengthening civilizational cooperation between the two regions.
The two sides renewed their determination to continue coordination and consultation on just international issues, and to work jointly to consolidate The principles of justice, peace and sustainable development, and supporting the rights of peoples to freedom and self-determination.
