The UAE raises its tally to 7 medals in the Paralympic Shooting World Cup

Al Ain, November 1, 2017 – The UAE raised its tally to 7 medals in the Paralympic Shooting World Cup competitions, currently being held in the Al Ain region, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

Shooters Saeed Al Balushi and Aisha Al Shamsi won the silver medal, in the 10-meter air rifle standing competition, SH2 mixed team category, with 14 points. The American team was able to win gold in the last shot, achieving “16 points,” and the Chinese team won the bronze medal.

Brigadier Salem Abdullah Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, accompanied by Mohammed Ghanem Al Mansouri, Executive Vice President of Al Foah Company, crowned the winners, in the presence of Abdullah Al Kamali, Executive Director of the People of Determination Sector, at the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Championship.

India continued to be at the top of the tournament, winning 16 medals, 8 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze. The UAE came in second place with 7 medals, 5 gold and 2 silver, and Slovakia was third with 4 medals.

Four finals were held today, and the first competition was in the 50-meter pistol category, SH1, mixed for teams and individuals. Iran won the team gold with 1,598 points, followed by India as runner-up with 1,588 points, and then China third with 1,528 points.

At the individual level, Akash, the Indian player, won first place with “223.1 points,” while his compatriot Sandeep Kumar won silver with “220.5 points,” then Chinese Feng Yuxin won bronze with “201 points.”

The men’s team SH1 10-meter air rifle standing competition saw India win gold, scoring 1838.7 points, China won the silver medal with 1823.6 points, and Kazakhstan won bronze with 1811.5 points.

In the individual competition, Yerkin Gbasov from Kazakhstan achieved first place, scoring 250.6 points, followed by Slovakia’s Radoslav Malinowski in runner-up with 249.8 points, then Danish Martin Black Jorgensen third with 226.9 points.

The women’s SH1 10-meter aerial rifle competition saw China win the team gold, scoring “1847.9 points,” and Thailand came in second place with “1839.4 points,” while third place was withheld due to the lack of a sufficient number of teams participating.

At the individual level in this category, Indian player Avani Lekhara took first place, scoring “249.9 points,” followed by the Swedish silver medalist Anna Benson, with “249.3 points,” and Thai Wannipa Leongvilai won bronze, scoring “226.1 points.”
