In her first official appearance, Rama Dawaji draws attention in a dress with Palestinian embroidery

Her appearance was highlighted by the presence of London-based designer Zaid Hijazi, whose work is inspired by the Palestinian heritage, the spirit of rebellion and the Arab future, to formulate fashions that carry a memory and search for a new civilized voice for the East in the world.

The look was completed with accessories from American designer Eddie Borgo, combining craftsmanship and modernity at the same time.

According to observers, Dawaji, of Syrian origins and married to Zahran Mamdani, the first Muslim mayor in the history of New York City, is the city’s first first lady from “Generation Z.” Therefore, through her appearance, she presented the vision of a new generation of Arab women who employ art and fashion as a global language that redefines elegance as an attitude and meaning, not just an appearance.
