World Health Organization: 16,000 patients in Gaza awaiting evacuation

The World Health Organization confirmed that there are more than 16,000 patients in the Gaza Strip who are still waiting to be evacuated for treatment abroad.
The organization called – in a statement, today, Monday, according to the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid without any obstacles through all crossings leading to the Gaza Strip, in light of the serious deterioration of the health and humanitarian conditions.
He pointed out the need for more countries to receive sick and injured people. from the Gaza Strip to receive treatment, stressing that the health system in Gaza is facing a complete collapse as a result of the ongoing siege and the lack of medical supplies and fuel.
The organization added that thousands of wounded are in need of urgent operations that cannot be performed inside the Gaza Strip, explaining that facilitating their transfer to hospitals outside Gaza has become an urgent humanitarian issue, and that its medical supplies are ready at the border, calling for the urgent reopening of all crossings.
The Israeli occupation forces had closed the crossings linking the Gaza Strip. Gaza since last March 2, after the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the failure to reach an agreement to stabilize the ceasefire. The truce was violated by violent air strikes on March 18, and it re-invaded by land into various areas of the Gaza Strip from which it had withdrawn. The occupation authorities also prevented the entry of humanitarian aid trucks, fuel, and shelter supplies for the displaced who lost their homes due to the war on Gaza. It refused to bring the heavy equipment needed to remove rubble and reconstruction into the Gaza Strip.
The entry of aid into Gaza was resumed last May according to a mechanism implemented by the occupation authorities and an American security company, despite the refusal of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) for violating the established international mechanism in this regard.
The mediators (Egypt, Qatar, and the United States) continued to make efforts to announce a comprehensive ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and exchange the release of prisoners and detainees, until At dawn on October 9, 2025, an agreement was reached between Hamas and Israel regarding the first phase of the ceasefire agreement according to US President Donald Trump’s plan in Sharm El-Sheikh, with Egyptian-American-Qatari mediation and Turkish efforts.
