Katy Perry wins her legal battle… and collects about two million dollars in damages

The case dates back to Perry’s $15 million purchase of a luxury home in Montecito five years ago, when Westcott tried to back out of the sale days after signing the contract, claiming he was under the influence of painkillers and was in no position to make a legal decision.
But in May 2024, the judge supervising the file concluded that Westcott did not provide evidence proving a defect in his mental capacity when signing the contract, confirming that his mental state was sound.
Court documents show that Perry is owed about $1.84 million after taking into account the retained capital, interest, and rents for the period in which the deal fell through, which exceeded $2.7 million.
According to the ruling, Perry’s manager, Bernie Godfy, had paid $9 million to Westcott and kept $6 million of the purchase value, minus the $1.8 million compensation amount.
A hearing to appeal the ruling is scheduled for December 30.
Despite her legal victory, Perry did not receive the full amount she previously requested, as she was requesting $4.72 million in compensation for damages resulting from the long litigation.
