After years of estrangement… Meghan Markle communicates with her father after his leg was amputated

A spokesman for the Duchess, quoted by the Mirror newspaper, said that Meghan took the initiative to contact her father after the surgery, which was the result of a blood clot that caused his leg to blacken, which required urgent intervention to avoid serious complications that could lead to sepsis or gangrene. The operation took about three hours, and the medical team was keen to speed it up due to the seriousness of the situation.
In this context, Thomas’s son, Thomas Markle Jr., explained that “the choice was between performing the operation and amputating the leg immediately or leaving him to face the risk of death,” noting that his condition was actually life-threatening, after the muscle tissue in the leg began to die.
Doctors are still closely monitoring Thomas Markle’s condition in anticipation of any possible complications, while the family has asked for his privacy to be preserved at this sensitive stage, as he remains under intensive medical care.
It is noteworthy that Meghan’s relationship with her father had been in estrangement since 2018, prior to her wedding to Prince Harry, after Thomas Markle arranged to take fabricated photos with paparazzi, which prompted her to boycott him and not invite him to attend the royal wedding.
Over the past years, Thomas Markle has suffered several health crises, including two heart attacks on the eve of the royal wedding, in addition to a stroke in 2022 that temporarily caused him to lose the ability to speak. He has not yet met Prince Harry nor his two grandchildren, Prince Archie, six years old, and Princess Lilibet, four years old.
According to close sources, Meghan’s last communication with her father came after a tense phone call with Prince Harry, in a move aimed at reassuring the family following the emergency health crisis.
