Aquatic activities within the Livestock Festival begin tomorrow in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 19TH DECEMBER, WAM/ Aquatic activities will begin tomorrow as part of the Livestock Festival, one of the most prominent festivals accompanying the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Award for Agricultural Excellence, in the award pavilion at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al Wathba area in Abu Dhabi, and will continue until December 26th.

The events aim to highlight the products of local aquaculture farms, enhance their presence in the market, and introduce the importance of this sector and its growing role in supporting the food security and sustainability system in the country.

A number of specialized entities are participating in the activities, including the Fujairah Research Center, companies from the private sector, as well as three aquaculture farms, where the participating entities will showcase their products, technical solutions, and practical experiences in the field of fish farming.

The agenda of events includes an integrated and diverse program of interactive and educational activities, as the opening day begins on December 20 with an opening event with cartoon characters, in addition to an aquatic life workshop, a fishing competition, two wind chime workshops for children, and a small veterinarian, in addition to a lecture on aquaculture on land.

December 21 will witness the organization of an creativity workshop in the aquarium, a general questions activity about aquatic organisms, in addition to a lecture on best biosecurity practices in aquaculture farms.

As for December 22, it includes a young vet workshop, a fishing competition, and a fishing workshop, in addition to the aquaculture lecture / From Sea to Table: The Journey of Marine Food from the Natural Environment to Healthy and Sustainable Food presented by the Fujairah Research Center.

The activities will continue on December 23 with general questions about aquatic life, a giant underwater coloring poster workshop, in addition to the puppet play “Ocean Whispers” presented by Garcia Farms and directed to families and children.

December 24 will witness the organization of a lecture on the most important risks and challenges in fish farms, a small veterinarian’s workshop, and an event for general questions about aquatic organisms, in addition to a lecture on integrated circular agriculture.

On December 25, the agenda includes a fishing competition and a small veterinarian’s workshop, while the program concludes on December 26 with a charity auction.

The events also include accompanying daily activities, including a virtual diving experience, a hollow-faced veterinarian model for children to photograph, an interactive mural, and a live cooking event that showcases the preparation of various types of seafood using local farm products.

The events also include the presentation of government projects related to the aquaculture sector, educational aquariums, and spaces designated for companies to display the latest equipment and technologies used in fish farming and improve production efficiency.

The Supreme Committee of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Award for Agricultural Excellence invited all those interested in this sector to participate in aquatic activities and benefit from the various activities it includes throughout the period of its holding.

She stressed that the UAE possesses scientific and technical capabilities that qualify it to be a leading regional platform in aquaculture, noting that the diversity of programs and accompanying activities contribute to spreading community awareness, encouraging innovation, and exchanging experiences between specialists and the public alike.

The aquatic activities within the Livestock Festival are one of the specific events organized by the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Award for Agricultural Excellence as part of its participation in the Sheikh Zayed Festival, in addition to a group of specialized agricultural and food festivals aimed at supporting local production and enhancing sustainability.
