The Commonwealth of Independent States launches an ambitious plan to connect transport and energy routes by 2035

MOSCOW, 4th January, 2018 (WAM) – The Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Sergei Lebedev, said that completing the linking of transport and communication routes is the top priority of the CIS countries in the new year.

He stressed that a number of important projects are scheduled to be considered during the year 2026 and the concept of linking the main transport arteries in the CIS is implemented, ensuring the movement of goods safely, quickly and efficiently, reducing costs and enhancing transit capabilities.

He pointed out that the CIS Energy Council is preparing a strategy for developing the fuel and energy complex for the period until 2035, which will determine the future of the energy sector in the CIS.

The Commonwealth of Independent States, a Eurasian organization founded in 1991 and made up of former Soviet republics, includes Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
