998 beneficiaries of services "Zayed for people of determination" To print curricula in Braille since 2006

ABU DHABI, 4th January, 2020 (WAM) – The number of beneficiaries of curriculum printing services in Braille, provided by the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, in the current academic year 2025/2026 has reached 34 beneficiaries, bringing the total number of students benefiting to 998 students since 2006, while the number of printed paper copies for the first semester of the current year reached 320 copies, with a total of 27,430 copies since the start of the service, while the number of copies reached 320 copies. Electronic copies for the first semester: 367 copies, out of a total of 10,087 electronic copies.
The number of entities benefiting from awareness publications and publications in Braille increased to 205 entities, including 7 entities during the year 2025, with 3,500 copies of the entities and institutions guide editions.
The number of beneficiaries of training services in the field of the blind since 2016 until now has reached 229 beneficiaries, while the consultations provided during the period from 2021 to 2025 reached 519 consultations, in addition to organizing 19 educational awareness workshops for employees of government and private agencies during the period from 2023 to 2025.
As part of the “Content for All” initiative, the Authority implemented specific initiatives that included adapting 15 educational media in Braille, printing the content of the menus of the “Ghaf” and “Erth” cafés in the Zayed National Museum in Braille, and reviewing, converting and proofreading 700 information panels and 42 descriptive panels in the museum, in a way that enhances the interactive experience for blind visitors. The Authority also provided 10 libraries across the country with stories printed in Braille to support reading and access to cognitive and cultural content.
On the occasion of World Braille Day, the Authority renewed its commitment to supporting and disseminating the Braille language as an essential foundation for empowering the blind and visually impaired, enhancing their integration into society, and consolidating the role of the family as a pivotal partner in the process of education, independence and empowerment.
She stressed that the Braille method represents an effective tool for enhancing independence and family and community integration, in line with the goals of the Year of the Family 2026 aimed at building a cohesive society that guarantees equal opportunities, stressing that it has continued since 2007 to provide Braille printing services for books, school curricula, and awareness leaflets, as 205 entities nationwide have benefited from these services.
Namah Abdul Rahman Al Mansouri, Director of the Blind Care Department at the Authority, said that celebrating World Braille Day aims to raise community awareness of its importance as a gateway to learning and knowledge, a tool that supports independence, and empowering the role of blind people within their families and communities, in addition to working to address challenges in cooperation with relevant authorities.
She explained that the Blind Care Department provides an integrated package of services in government and private care and rehabilitation centers, integration schools, and universities, including printing books, curricula, cultural stories, exam forms, and study summaries in Braille, producing prominent educational aids, providing publications and guidance regulations, in addition to preparing electronic copies, and providing specialized training programs and consulting services for students, parents, and teachers.
