"Many 30" Champion of the Al Bwanish Sailing Race at the Abu Dhabi Maritime Festival
ABU DHABI, 10th January, 2017 (WAM) – The Al Adeed 30 loader was crowned champion of the Al Bwanish Sailing Race, which was held yesterday as part of the Abu Dhabi Marine Festival, organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.
“Al Adeed 30”, owned by Mohammed Rashid Mohammed Al Rumaithi, and led by Nokhatha Ahmed Ismail Al Marzouqi, achieved first place, after a strong and consistent performance throughout the course of the race, which enabled him to take the lead well deserved.
The “Al Hadi 29” loader, owned by Abdullah Sabah Muhammad Al Rumaithi, came in second place, while the “Barq” loader, owned by Jaber Muhammad Jaber Al Hammadi, came in third place, in a race that was characterized by close levels and a high pace of competition among the participants.
Khalifa Rashid Al Rumaithi, Director of Heritage Sports Activities at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, confirmed that the Al Aliyah Race is one of the important races within the Abu Dhabi Marine Festival calendar, due to its heritage symbolism and high artistic value, noting that the competitive level witnessed by the race reflects the status that Al Bwanish sailing races enjoy among sailors and sailors.
He added that the Abu Dhabi Marine Festival continues its role in supporting and preserving traditional marine sports, by organizing specific races that contribute to transferring this ancient heritage to new generations, and enhancing the presence of traditional boats in the sports scene, in a way that consolidates the national identity and preserves the Emirati maritime heritage.
The conclusion of the race witnessed the crowning of the winners by Saeed Humaid Al Muhairi, Head of the Technical Support Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and Khalifa Rashid Al Rumaithi, Director of Heritage Sports Activities at the Club, along with Khalifa Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club Academy.
