Deputy UN Coordinator for the Peace Process: There is a turning point for a better future in Gaza

Deputy United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Ramiz Al Akbarov, said that there is an opportunity and a potential turning point in the Gaza Strip for a better future, stressing that at the same time the West Bank is suffering from continued deterioration.
Gaza Reconstruction
He added that the announcement of the second phase of the twenty-point comprehensive plan presented by US President Donald Trump constitutes a decisive step in consolidating the ceasefire in Gaza, in addition to creating , the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and the Office of the High Representative for Gaza.
He explained the importance of the meeting he held in Cairo, to discuss the best support that the United Nations can provide, to provide basic public services, facilitate humanitarian aid, and lay the foundations for the reconstruction of Gaza, pointing out that the residents of the Gaza Strip need humanitarian aid.
Ceasefire
He stressed that the task at hand is large, and requires coordination. fully between all parties, taking into account existing systems and capabilities, noting that the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire plan in Gaza is critical, and will require our collective and resolute commitment.
Alakbarov touched on the situation in the West Bank, in light of the widespread Israeli aggression, settlement expansion, settler violence, demolitions, and mass arrests, pointing to the sharp escalation in the pressure campaign against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), in an attempt To end its operations in the occupied Palestinian territory.
