المملكة: Founder University revives the Saudi architectural heritage with artificial intelligence techniques

I opened King Abdulaziz University Exhibition “The Fragrance of the Past” in the Geomatics Department, in the presence of academic and student leaders, to document the Saudi architectural identity using Artificial Intelligence, to enhance sustainability and Vision 2030, and to connect emerging generations with their urban heritage in an advanced scientific manner.
The College of Architecture and Planning, represented by the Department of Geomatics, launched the activities of a qualitative exhibition that combines the authenticity of heritage with future technologies, in the presence of Professor Dr. Muhammad Kabli, Vice President of the University for Educational Affairs.
Aesthetics of Saudi Architecture
The exhibition highlighted the aesthetics of traditional Saudi architecture, Showcasing its environmental and cultural dimensions by employing the latest technologies in geospatial information systems and artificial intelligence to provide a unique visual and cognitive experience.
The exhibition halls received student delegations from schools in Jeddah Governorate, where they viewed student models and projects that embody the architectural identity of Saudi regions and their rich diversity in a manner that mimics reality with extreme accuracy.
Interactive displays
University students presented their visitors with advanced interactive displays. It introduces regional urban styles, and reveals the impact of the natural environment in shaping the local urban fabric, which enhances a deep understanding of the components of national heritage.
The exhibition supervisor, Dr. Rayan Sahahiri, explained that the event aims to provide a modern reading of traditional architecture using spatial analysis tools and accurate digital documentation of heritage assets.
This scientific methodology contributes to raising the quality of future urban projects, and works to enrich tourism and cultural experiences in various regions of the Kingdom in accordance with modern international standards.

This academic movement comes within the university’s tireless efforts to support the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, focusing in particular on the paths of sustainability, eco-tourism, and consolidating concepts of national identity among young people.
The involvement of school students in this event gives an early and rare opportunity to learn about urban sciences and geomatics, which instills in them awareness of architectural heritage from a contemporary scientific and technical perspective.
The exhibition received wide interaction from visitors and students, who praised the level of work presented and the high readiness of the college students to contribute to the development of a sustainable urban environment that reflects the spirit of the past and meets the aspirations of the future.
