Austria joins a joint statement of 85 countries condemning Israeli actions in the West Bank

Austria reiterated its condemnation of the recent measures taken by the Israeli government in the West Bank. Foreign Minister Beata Meinel-Reisinger said, “The developments in the West Bank are more than just worrying.” She continued, “We reiterate our strong condemnation of the recent decisions and actions taken by the Israeli government in the West Bank and we urgently appeal to Israel to reverse these steps.”

The Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the country had joined a joint statement that included 85 countries, which was announced at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, “strongly condemning the unilateral Israeli decisions and actions aimed at expanding the illegal Israeli presence in the West Bank,” and criticized the countries participating in the statement – the proposal presented by the Israeli government to facilitate settlers’ access to lands in the West Bank.
