Advance planning is the key to comfortable travel with children during Ramadan

Experts confirmed that traveling with children during the month of Ramadan represents an additional challenge for parents, due to the fatigue and anxiety resulting from fasting and the change in daily routine, which requires good planning and advance preparation to ensure that the children are comfortable and enjoy the trip.

  1. Download favorite movies and games on tablets to avoid boredom during long trips.

  2. Children’s headphones to protect hearing and prevent noise.

  3. Comfortable travel pillow for neck support and sleeping on the go.

  4. Healthy snacks like dried fruits and vegetables to avoid hunger and discomfort.

  5. An easy-to-carry handbag or backpack to store baby’s items.

  6. Activity books or posters to keep the child busy and stimulate his mind while waiting.

Experts pointed out that the most appropriate age for traveling with a child is between 6 and 12 months, when he has received his basic vaccinations and has more regular sleep, which makes it easier to adapt to the trip.

They also advised providing light, easily digestible foods, such as fresh and cut fruits, dried fruits, yogurt, healthy sandwiches, ground nuts, and fresh vegetables, while avoiding salty and fried foods and heavy sweets that may increase fatigue and dehydration.

To relieve children’s fatigue during travel, they recommended adjusting the sleep schedule before the trip, maintaining drinking water, being patient and flexible, and providing calm recreational activities such as audio stories, coloring books, simple conversational games, and puzzles and stickers.

For infants, experts stressed choosing an appropriate time for the trip, using seats near the aisle or next to the window as needed, preparing a travel bag containing snacks, entertainment, a favorite toy, and alternative clothes, in addition to talking to the child before the trip to prepare him psychologically and reduce anxiety.

Experts emphasized that advance planning and good preparation are the key to a successful trip with children during Ramadan, and ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience without fatigue or tension.
