The latest version of the text still condemns the Iranian attacks on ships, and encourages the countries concerned to "Coordinating efforts, of a defensive nature and proportionate to the circumstances, to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, including escorting commercial vessels."

Stop attacks on ships

The draft resolution also calls on Iran to immediately stop all attacks on ships crossing this vital trade route, and any attempt to obstruct freedom of navigation.

The text also indicates that the Council will be prepared to consider taking other measures against those who undermine freedom of navigation in the corridor.
The vote is scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, at 15:00 GMT, a few hours before the expiration of the deadline set by US President Donald Trump for Iran, Threatening that he would destroy it completely on Tuesday night if it did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
