Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Leadership… Approval of the final list of government agencies participating in the first session

The Supervisory Committee for the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Leadership held its first meeting, marking the start of implementation of the first session of the medal, which is considered the highest type of medal in the Dubai government, and was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, with the aim of establishing a culture of preparing government leaders and empowering second-tier leaders, in a way that enhances the sustainability of excellence and leadership in government work in the Emirate of Dubai.
The meeting was chaired by the head of the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi.
During the meeting, the committee approved the final list of entities participating in the first session of the Medal, which includes more than 30 government agencies in Dubai, reflecting the broad interaction with the objectives of the Medal and its role in qualifying leaders and developing government competencies.
The committee approved an integrated, multi-stage evaluation methodology, based on objective indicators and specialized evaluation interviews, with a focus on measuring the sustainable leadership impact in preparing and empowering leaders.
The committee also approved a list of procedures, terms and conditions regulating the medal, ensuring the highest levels of transparency, impartiality and governance in the various stages of the evaluation, and unifying the evaluation and selection criteria among all participating parties.
The results of the evaluation are scheduled to be submitted to the Supervisory Committee of the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Leadership after completing all stages, with the preparation of a comprehensive report that includes the results, analysis and recommendations, leading to the selection of one government leader annually to win the medal, to be honored during the activities of the Mohammed bin Rashid Leaders’ Forum, which is organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development in September.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi stressed that the “Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Medal”, which was launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, embodies the approach of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him” in building a sustainable leadership system based on empowering leaders and refining their skills in a way that enhances their readiness to lead the future.
He said: “The medal celebrates a leader whose impact is not limited to achieving results and achievements, but extends to building new leaders capable of continuing the process of development and creating the future, ensuring the continuity of government excellence in the Emirate of Dubai, and enhancing the flexibility of institutions to keep pace with changes and anticipate opportunities.”
He pointed out the committee’s keenness to implement all stages of the evaluation in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency, transparency and objectivity, ensuring monitoring and evaluation of the most distinguished leadership models in preparing competencies and empowering leaders, and measuring their sustainable institutional impact, stressing that the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Medal constitutes a strategic platform to enhance positive competitiveness among government agencies in discovering and empowering national competencies, which contributes to the development of a government system that is more prepared for the future, and enhances the sustainability of achievement and Dubai’s leadership in various fields.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Medal is awarded annually to the most general manager in the Dubai government who contributes to developing, empowering, training and highlighting second-level leaders, by enhancing confidence within work teams and institutions, stimulating the energies of employees to unleash their best and achieving high levels of performance and creativity, in addition to promoting a culture of institutional empowerment based on distributing powers, expanding the scope of responsibilities and consolidating the principles of decentralization.
The medal aims to build a system to empower leaders in every institution by setting clear plans and standards, which will enhance leadership preparation efforts and make Dubai’s experience a global model in developing leaders according to indicators and standards that compare to the best international experiences.
The medal also aims to enable leaders to manage priority files by granting them full powers, engaging them early in decision-making, and assigning them strategic tasks that enhance their readiness for the future, in addition to highlighting and disseminating pioneering institutional practices by highlighting the success stories of institutions that have made a qualitative leap in empowering their leaders and disseminating them to benefit from them in other entities.
