The United Nations launches an appeal to raise $296 million for Venezuela relief

Today, the United Nations launched an urgent appeal to raise $296 million to support relief operations in the wake of the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela, after the death toll from the disaster exceeded 3,600 people.
The United Nations humanitarian affairs official, Tom Fletcher, said: "We have a clear plan. We need $296 million to reach 1.3 million people who are currently in need of social and economic support, over a period of six months. It is a time-bound plan".
