An understanding between the Ministry of Economy and"ADNOC" For the purpose of data integration

Abu Dhabi, December 4, 2017 – The Ministry of Economy signed a memorandum of understanding with the ADNOC Group, with the aim of integrating data, statistics, information and electronic connectivity between the two sides, as part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance the digital transformation of the National Economic Registry platform “Nomu” and increase its partner base. The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation. Coordination in the field of electronic connectivity between the two parties, and establishing a framework between them to exchange information, collect data and statistics, and increase their efficiency, in a way that supports the achievement of national goals for sustainable development, and enhances commitment to the methodologies adopted in accordance with best practices at the state level.

The two parties will work to support digital transformation within the country and develop and integrate databases, as well as encourage the exchange of expertise, knowledge and successful experiences in common fields, which contributes to developing the capabilities and skills of the work teams on both sides.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Ministry, His Excellency Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Entrepreneurship and Economic Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Economy, and Dr. Saleh Al Hashimi, Head of the Commercial Affairs and In-Country Value Promotion Department at ADNOC Group, on the sidelines of the activities of the first session of “Abu Dhabi Business Week,” which was hosted by ADNEC Center Abu Dhabi during the period from 4 to 6 December.

Al Nuaimi stressed that cooperation with the ADNOC Group is an important step to support the Ministry’s efforts to achieve digital integration through the National Economic Register platform “Nomu”, which represents a new station for strengthening the digital infrastructure and supporting economic development efforts in the country, which contributes to achieving the national goal of the country becoming the most economical system. Leadership and excellence, according to the axes of the “We Are the Emirates 2031 Vision,” noting that the signing of the agreement shows the Ministry’s vision to reach the maximum benefit from data as a strategic tool to support sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.

Al Nuaimi said: “Through this cooperation, we will work to improve the quality of data and develop innovative mechanisms to analyze and use it effectively, in a way that enhances the efficiency of operations, consolidates our commitment to the highest international standards in this regard, and reinforces the importance of coordination and cooperation between the government and private sectors.”

The Ministry of Economy launched the National Economic Register “Nomu” early last October, with the aim of providing the largest, unified and reliable database and information for all commercial licenses for establishments and companies across the seven emirates, and unifying the procedures and requirements for establishing businesses and carrying out economic activities in the country through a unified national portal.

The “Nomu” platform connects more than 46 entities in the country, and includes the national identity for the unified economic number (ERN), which links information between federal and local government agencies and licensing authorities. The platform also allows inquiring about the data and information of any commercial license in the country and more than 2,000 economic activities on the Internet. At the level of the seven emirates, which contributes to achieving digital transformation and providing more flexible electronic transactions.
