12 Vietnamese soldiers were killed in an explosion during military training

The Vietnamese Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday evening that 12 Vietnamese soldiers were killed in an explosion that occurred during military training.
The Ministry of Defense statement said that the incident occurred on Monday evening at a shooting range in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, while forces of the Seventh Military District were training to fight in harsh weather conditions and complex terrain.
The ministry added that the explosion occurred during the transportation of explosive devices during heavy rain and thunderstorms.

She added, “A total of 12 individuals have been declared missing, and most of the bodies have been recovered since then, but search efforts are still continuing.”
The initial cause of the accident was determined to be the result of an electric detonator being struck by lightning, which led to the electrical detonation of explosive materials.
“This tragedy represents a huge loss to the forces and to the families and friends of the victims,” the army statement said.
