Mansour bin Zayed directs the establishment of an endurance race for Arabian horses

ABU DHABI, 5 December, 2017 (WAM) – Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chief of the Presidential Court, the Emirates Arabian Horse Association and the Emirates International Endurance Village are organizing the first endurance race for Arabian horses.
The initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan comes as an extension of the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, in paying attention to purebred Arabian horses, nurturing them and raising their status in various countries of the world, enhancing their presence in the most important international events and races, and working to expand the base. Its spread.
The initiative reflects His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s great support for endurance racing, in addition to His Highness’s efforts in enhancing the status of purebred Arabian horses at the local and international levels. It also contributes to highlighting purebred Arabian horses and their qualities of endurance and ability to run in long races.
The initiative also contributes to opening new horizons for owners and breeders, and developing the spirit of competition among them, which contributes to strengthening the state’s position and its ability to innovate more activities.
On this occasion, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Arabian Horse Association, extended his thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support for equestrianism in general, and for Arabian horses in particular.
He praised the importance of allocating a race for Arabian horses within the endurance races, noting that its date has been set and will be held in Al Wathba on January 26 for a distance of 100 km.
He said that His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is one of the biggest supporters of Arabian horses in various parts of the world, and designating this race enhances the status of Arabian horses and encourages those interested in them to preserve their rare breeds, which are an integral part of our cultural heritage.
Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan expressed his confidence that this race will have a great impact on endurance sports, highlight more of the characteristics of Arabian horses, and that it will bring about development in endurance races, and will also contribute to attracting more interest from owners and breeders in Arabian horses.
