المملكة: Global crises require unifying efforts and energies to confront them
The Advisor to the Royal Court and the General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Dr., explained. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah, that the unprecedented risks, emergencies and crises that the world is witnessing today leave us facing a scene of great challenges and complex humanitarian factors, in which a group of risks intersect that produce enormous challenges that put us in a fateful confrontation when we see homeless families, children without food, and communities clinging to… With the dream of survival, we have no choice but to work together to confront these dangers, mobilize scientific energies and adopt solutions that restore hope to those in need.
This came during his participation today in the “Risk, Emergency Management and Business Continuity” conference organized by the General Secretariat of the National Risk Council under the slogan “Preparedness for Sustainable Resilience” during the period from 9 to 11 December in Riyadh.
Risk management with an integrated approach
D. Abdullah Al-Rabiah confirmed that the King Salman Relief Center has always worked in risk management with an integrated approach based on studying the future and reviewing the lessons of the past, which enables it to direct its procedures to confront the crises of the present, based on the expectations of specialists, integrated graphical analyses, scientific foundations, and innovative mechanisms and methods, which makes it Able to read the future through extremely flexible strategies.
Al-Rabiah discussed the Center’s procedures for confronting risks, emergencies, and crises, represented by proactive preparedness based on accurate assessments that include areas of danger to prevent them, and assessment of need.
Also, the rapid response that focuses on providing urgent relief and basic assistance during and after an emergency in order to preserve life and reduce health risks.
As well as the transitional phase or what is called recovery, and in this phase the value of the interconnected approach that the Center is keen to adopt in cooperation with the relevant sector in the Kingdom is evident, with the aim of enhancing the ability of communities to withstand and resume their development path, which depends on increasing the capacity of local access, training, capacity building and care. Health, education, and creating opportunities for adaptation and rehabilitation.

Successful humanitarian interventions
Dr. said. Al-Rabiah: These measures, with the grace of God and then under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Highness the Trustworthy Crown Prince, may God protect them, led to successful humanitarian interventions that contributed to saving the lives of millions of people in more than 105 countries.
He added: The most prominent of these countries is Yemen, which received the largest share of the centre’s interventions, by resorting to animals to deliver oxygen cylinders when there are no alternatives.
Likewise in the Gaza Strip, land, sea and air relief bridges were run to it, and air drops were used to provide relief to those affected in the northern Strip when access through the crossings was not possible.
Also in Lebanon, the Center’s teams were the first to initiate rescue operations following the Beirut Port explosion. The Center’s teams also spared no effort during the earthquake disaster in Syria and Turkey, the flood crises in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, and the urgent humanitarian interventions in Sudan.

Reducing pandemic risks
Dr. recalled. Al-Rabiah is the Kingdom’s sound approach in its creative response to the (Covid-19) pandemic, as the efforts of the wise leadership – may God protect it – and the multiple sectors became clear in an integrated system, which contributed to reducing the risks of the pandemic to citizens and residents, and supporting the capabilities of more than 40 countries around the world to assist their sectors. Health and allocating 850 million US dollars to confront the pandemic.
The conference discusses ways to benefit from emerging technologies and artificial intelligence and employ them to enhance effective response and its future developments.
As well as recovering from crises and disasters, and aligning recovery work with the principles of sustainable development and the principle of “building back better.”
