The Human Resources Association conference achieves great success in correcting many administrative concepts

In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, the Bahrain Society for Human Resources Management conference was held in its twenty-fifth edition in the period from 3 to 5 December 2024 under the title of forming strategic partnerships in human resources management, with distinguished participation from decision-makers from CEOs. And the specialists, where the conference proceedings were opened with a speech by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, Mr. Ahmed Al-Zayani, and then the Chairman of the Conference, Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, gave a brief presentation in 5 slides about the objectives of the conference, where he focused on the necessity of linking human resources departments. Consider the organization’s hours and strategies and always think about the added value that human resources departments can provide to the various partners in the organization itself, such as members of the board of directors and shareholders, and how the CEO can think about making the organization’s work successful and achieving its goals as quickly as possible.

On the other hand, the conference discussed important and vital topics that are similar to the challenges and aspirations of the future, such as: linking the institution’s higher strategy with the strategies of other departments within each institution, especially to enhance the change occurring in human resources management strategies related to business management, flexibility and repositioning, especially in times of crises, and making the most of human resources. Within the organization, ways to attract creative and innovative talents, digital transformation, digital literacy, and employee experience, in addition to discussing the latest programs and applications in developing the main competencies of women leaders.

On the other hand, 3 working sessions were held in which some CEOs participated, such as Mr. Ali Al Baqali, CEO of Alba, Mr. Abdul Wahed Al Janahi, CEO of Benefit, Mr. Firas Ahmed, CEO of Silah Al Khaleej, Mr. Maitham Abdullah, CEO of Batelco, and Mrs. Maha Mufeez, President. Executive Director of the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), and Dr. Ghaleb Al Hosani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Society for Human Resources Management.

A group of senior speakers also spoke at the conference, such as Dr. Rami Shaheen from Jordan, Dr. Carl Francisco from the United Kingdom, Dr. Ramin Mehajer, Dr. Nada Al-Ajmi from the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Mishari Al-Shalhoub from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and other experts and specialists.

In this regard, Mr. Ahmed Al-Zayani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said: This year’s conference has achieved an amazing, very distinguished and effective success at the level of the Arabian Gulf and the region, as the distinguished speakers are from different regional countries such as Europe, the Arab world, the Gulf, and of course the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Al-Zayani added: The conference was divided into a group of topics, and on each day of the conference, two main topics were presented. For example, on the first day, the focus was on administrative leadership and the major transformation in information technology, while on the second day of the conference, the focus was on the leaders of tomorrow, the pioneers of human resources departments and An incubating environment for modern work. One of the most important speakers at the conference is the international thinker and expert Dave Orlich, the owner of the theory of strategic partnership between human resources management.

As for the most important recommendations, Al-Zayani added, “We left it up to the participants to reap the fruits of the conference, which was summarized in about 50 pioneering ideas, many of which can be applied in our institutions, whether in the public or private sector, and I mention them here as an example:

The importance and necessity of the human resources department being at the top of the pyramid in the organization and not being a body that manages routine administrative operations. Also, the human resources departments must begin to work with a system of 80% strategic thinking and 20% administrative professionalism, and all workers in the human resources department should be trained to use and apply scientific methods. And a process at work, such as measurement tools, evaluation tools, and sumometric testing tools, to create and develop leaders and attract the best talents in the promotion package to adopt decisions on a scientific level.

Al-Zayani concluded his speech by commenting that on the sidelines of the conference, an intensive workshop was held on the last day of the conference at the Bahrain Society for Human Resources Management Center. The conference also included honoring the winners of the BSCM Excellence Award, which was presented to the winners by His Excellency the Shura Council.
