The innovative statue of “Bitcoin” was found broken in the Swiss lake Logano

The Swiss municipality of Logano has announced the finding of the Satoshi Nakamoto statue, the creator of the virtual “Bitcoin” currency, in a devastating state inside the water of Loughano Lake, after days of reporting that his disappearance from his original location in the Parko Xani park.

According to local reports, municipal workers found the statue cut into parts, indicating that it was subjected to deliberate vandalism, not theft with the aim of profit. Only the feet fixed to the base remained, while the rest of the pieces were recovered from the bottom of the lake.

A cultural symbol exposed to distortion

The statue, which was designed by Italian artist Valentina Picotzi, was unveiled in October 2024 as part of a art project launched by the “Satoshigallery” group, and aims to publish 21 statues around the world in honor of the creator of the first decentralized digital currency.

It took about 21 months to work on the statue, becoming a global cultural symbol among the digital currency community. The group had monitored a reward of 0.1 Bitcoin (the equivalent of more than 11 thousand dollars) for those who help restore the statue.

The incident sparked a wave of anger on the “X” platform (X), as the Blockchain Gabor Gorpox activist described it as “a ridiculous and uncomfortable behavior”, while others suggested that sabotage was caused by noisy celebrations on the occasion of the Swiss National Day.

For his part, the CEO of Tether, Paulo Erdino, expressed his solidarity with the incident through an expressive symbol on the platform, while the Satoshi Gallery collection published a comment in which it said: “You can steal our symbol, but you cannot extract our souls.”
