Russia vows to respond to Ukraine’s bombing of a military airport with American missiles
Russia accused Ukraine of using long-range, American-made missiles to bomb a military airport on Wednesday, threatening Kiev that it would respond to that with “appropriate measures.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement: “Six American-made Atakmas ballistic missiles were used, and the combat crew of the Pantsir air defense system shot down two missiles, while the other was diverted using electronic warfare equipment.”
The ministry said that the missiles were directed to hit a military airport in Taganrog, a port city in the southern Rostov region on the shores of the Sea of Azov.

Russian response
She confirmed that no soldiers were harmed, but the falling shrapnel “caused minor damage” to military vehicles and nearby buildings, and vowed that “this attack with long-range Western weapons will not go unanswered and appropriate measures will be taken.”
Moscow responded angrily after Washington granted Ukraine permission to use long-range Atakum missiles last month.
On November 21, Russia launched the experimental hypersonic missile “Oreshnik” against Ukraine for the first time, in what President Vladimir Putin described as a response to Kiev’s use of long-range Western weapons against his country.
