The UAE welcomes the agreement reached by Somalia and Ethiopia

The UAE welcomed the historic agreement reached by Somalia and Ethiopia on renouncing differences, expressing its hope that this important step will strengthen bridges of communication and dialogue, and contribute to consolidating stability and constructive cooperation in the Horn of Africa region.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the efforts of the friendly Republic of Turkey and the efforts made by His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Turkish Republic, to reach this agreement, noting that this positive development that was reached through direct talks represents an important step towards promoting development and peace at the regional and international levels. In a way that benefits the two countries and peoples, serves their common interests, and brings them more prosperity and development.

The Ministry affirmed that the UAE has close and distinguished relations with both the sisterly Federal Republic of Somalia and the friendly Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and affirms its keenness to promote peace and stability in the region, and its belief in the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means.
