Abdullah bin Zayed and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India chair the 15th session of the Joint Committee

New Delhi, December 13 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, today chaired the work of the 15th session of the Joint Committee between the UAE and the Republic of India, which was held In New Delhi.
The convening of the joint committee embodies the depth of the historical and strategic relations that bring together the two friendly countries and peoples in various fields.
In his speech, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his appreciation for the great progress witnessed in relations between the UAE and the Republic of India over the past years, stressing the important role of all bilateral platforms between the two countries, including the Joint Committee, in strengthening this distinguished historical relationship and developing paths. All cooperation and joint work for the benefit and development of the peoples of the two friendly countries.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar affirmed his country’s commitment to promoting innovation and stimulating economic growth in cooperation with the UAE, stressing the common vision that unites the two countries and supports the path of their partnership towards broader horizons.
The committee’s work was topped by the achievements achieved within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which contributed significantly to enhancing the volume of trade between the two countries, reaching approximately 84 billion US dollars last year.
The results of the meeting of the Joint Committee for this agreement, which was held in October 2024, were also reviewed, and witnessed the discussion of issues related to its implementation, including goods, rules of origin, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary standards, as well as trade in services.
The heads of delegations praised the ratification of the bilateral investment treaty between the UAE and the Republic of India, which is a pivotal step in establishing a solid legal framework that provides comprehensive protection and encourages the promotion of mutual investments. A number of qualitative investments were also highlighted, the most prominent of which is the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority’s decision to establish a company. A subsidiary in Gujarat International City for Financial Services and Technology, in a move that confirms the UAE’s firm confidence in the sustainable growth of the Indian economy.
In addition, the two sides discussed prospects for cooperation in various fields, including strengthening digital payment systems through the integration of national platforms, developing the UAE-India food corridor, in addition to expanding the scope of cooperation in the fields of science, research, education, nuclear energy, space and critical minerals.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar signed the minutes of the meeting of the 15th session of the joint committee between the UAE and the Republic of India.
The state delegation participating in the meeting included His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, His Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, His Excellency Khalid Mohammed Al Amma, Governor of the UAE Central Bank, and His Excellency Lana Zaki. Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, His Excellency Saeed Mubarak Al-Hajri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and His Excellency Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Science and Technology Affairs. Advanced, His Excellency Abdullah Al-Alaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Maha Tayseer Barakat, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Medical Affairs and Life Sciences, and His Excellency Dr. Abdel Nasser Jamal Al-Shaali, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of India.
Following the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and His Excellency Dr. Subramaniam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding regarding polar research cooperation between the two countries.
The Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged by His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Alaa, Assistant Secretary of State for Energy and Sustainability Affairs, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Pole Committee, and His Excellency Dr. Ravichandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Republic of India.
