Abdullah bin Zayed participates in the Aqaba ministerial meetings on Syria
Aqaba, December 14 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the “Aqaba Ministerial Meetings on Syria”, which began today in the city of Aqaba in the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
His Highness participated in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Arab Liaison Committee on Syria, where an invitation was sent to the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, “the current Chairman of the Arab Summit,” and the State of Qatar, to attend alongside the members of the Liaison Committee, which are the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the sisterly State of Iraq, and the sisterly Republic of Lebanon. The sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
Participating in the meeting were His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly State of Qatar, and His Excellency Ayman Al-Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs in The sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Excellency Fouad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly State of Iraq, and His Excellency Abdullah Bou Habib, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lebanese Republic. Sister, and His Excellency Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt.
His Excellency Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, and His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, also participated in the meeting.
The meeting, called for by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, discussed developments in the situation in the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic and ways to strengthen the Arab efforts made in support of Syria’s unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the security and stability of its people.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the UAE’s keenness on the security and stability of the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, its unity and sovereignty, noting the importance of this meeting in formulating an Arab, regional and international collective action approach that supports reaching a political settlement in Syria in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution. No. 2254 and to meet the aspirations of the Syrian people for development and a decent life.
His Highness thanked the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for its invitation to host this important meeting, which embodies the firm commitment to supporting Syria and standing by its brotherly people.
The meeting of foreign ministers of the Arab Liaison Committee on Syria, in the presence of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Excellencies the Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, “the current Chairman of the Arab Summit,” and the State of Qatar, issued a statement at the conclusion of its work.
