UNHCR: We expect one million Syrians to return to their homes by June

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees expected that one million Syrians would return to their homes between January and June of next year.

The United Nations High Commissioner explained – in a statement published on the official website of the United Nations today – that about six million refugees from Syria live abroad, especially in countries neighboring Syria.

She stated, “Although UNHCR does not encourage large-scale voluntary returns to Syria at the present time, it is preparing to assist those who choose to return voluntarily, and works closely with host governments, the United Nations and non-governmental organizations.”
