"National Olympic" participate in "General Islamic Solidarity"

Tirana, December 19 / WAM / Yesterday, Wednesday, the National Olympic Committee participated in the thirteenth General Assembly meeting of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, which was held in the Albanian capital, Tirana, and witnessed the discussion of several reports, most notably the sixth Islamic Solidarity Sports Games hosted by the capital. The National Olympic Committee delegation was represented at the meeting by His Excellency Dr. Nabil Mohammed bin Ashour, Member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee, and His Excellency Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director of the Committee.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, chaired the meeting, in the presence of Augerta Manastirliu, Minister of Education and Sports of the Republic of Albania, and heads and representatives of Olympic committees in Islamic countries.

Al-Faisal said that next year, 2025, the twentieth anniversary of the launch of the first Islamic Games in 2005 will be celebrated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during Riyadh’s hosting of the sixth session of the tournament.

For his part, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, member of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, reviewed the Kingdom’s hosting file for the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games, which Riyadh will host in November 2025, and revealed the number of games included in the session. Which included 19 sports, including three Paralympic Games, whose competitions were held in four facilities.

At its meeting, the Assembly approved the report of the Federation’s General Secretariat for 2023-2024, the file for hosting the Seventh Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029, and the financial and administrative reports, in addition to discussing the proposed amendments to the Federation’s statute.
The delegation of the National Olympic Committee presented a memorial shield to the Albanian Olympic Committee, within the framework of strengthening cooperation and opening new channels of communication and joint work with Olympic committees in various countries of the world.
