In the heart of Ma’rib, where stories of determination and defiance are intertwined, stands out the Yemeni boy “Idris”, who lost his foot in a tragic moment as a result of a landmine explosion in 2023, then regained consciousness to discover that he had lost part of his body, which overwhelmed him with deep sadness and bitter despair.
Despite all that, he thanked God Almighty for saving him from death, and did not give up, but decided to face his disability with courage, and found hope in the Artificial Limbs Center in Marib, funded by the King Salman Relief Center.
The center received him warmly and installed a prosthetic limb for him, so he could return to his normal life again. Idris expresses his joy that he has become able to walk, regain his activity, and return to school, thanks to the Almighty God and then to the distinguished efforts of the Kingdom represented by the King Salman Relief Center.

Humanitarian actions

In a noble humanitarian step, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, instilled hope in the hearts of 3,996 individuals in Ma’rib Governorate, by installing artificial limbs for them within the ninth phase of the project to operate the installation of artificial limbs and rehabilitation in the governorate.
This achievement came within the framework of the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Relief Centre, to provide humanitarian and relief aid to the brotherly Yemeni people, and to alleviate their suffering as a result of the humanitarian crisis they are going through.
This initiative is part of the medical projects implemented by the Center in various Yemeni governorates, targeting people who have lost limbs as a result of accidents and wars.
The beneficiaries expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the generous assistance it provided to them, which alleviated their suffering, illuminated their paths, and restored hope to them.

Abdul Malik Al-Washah also described the prosthetic limb center as a “lifeline,” after he suffered an injury that made him dependent on a crutch for an entire year, and his life became restricted to the home and his trips limited and tiring.
After that, he decided to go to the center and he was fitted with a prosthetic limb. He regained his movement and returned to his normal life with his family, thanking the Kingdom for everything it had provided for him and the other injured people.

Inspiring stories

While steadfastness is embodied in the story of Issam Al-Shamhani, who was displaced from Sanaa to Ma’rib to escape the conflicts, but he did not survive a bullet that caused his paralysis, and after leaving the hospital, his morale was destroyed, but he received good news about physical therapy at the prosthetics center in Ma’rib, and after the treatment Thank God, he regained his ability to move and participated in sports competitions, stressing that hope and faith are his strongest motivation to achieve his dreams.
In the displacement camps, the child Aws Muhammad lives. He used to crawl on his knees and dream of walking. His family’s days were difficult until the light came to them when a family friend advised them to visit the prosthetics center.

After four months of treatment, the miracle happened; Aws stood on his feet and began his first steps towards a new life full of hope, and his father expressed his overwhelming joy, stressing that that moment was an unforgettable historical moment, offering his thanks to the Kingdom and the employees of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
Finally, Muhammad Al-Qadi, who witnessed great suffering after a mine explosion led to the amputation of his right leg, and after the injury he became unemployed, but he refused to give up and heard about the Artificial Limbs Center in Marib, so he went to it, where he received an artificial leg and physical therapy sessions.
Thanks to God Almighty and then the Kingdom’s humanitarian projects, Muhammad returned to work and practiced a normal life, indicating that the center is a beacon of hope for many people with disabilities in Yemen.
