"Trends" Participates in a research paper "Forum of think tanks in Arab countries"

Cairo, December 25 / WAM / The Trends Center for Research and Consultation participated, with a research paper, in the work of the second annual forum of think tanks in the Arab countries, which was held by the Research and Strategic Studies Department of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, under the slogan “Towards an Arab mechanism to confront the threats resulting from the use of… Artificial intelligence by terrorist groups.”
Dozens of Arab research institutions and think tanks participated in the forum, which concluded yesterday and lasted for two days at the secretariat’s headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The paper, titled “The Use of Artificial Intelligence by Terrorist Groups… Threats and the Role of Think Tanks,” stated that the use of artificial intelligence by terrorists has become more possible than ever before, which makes the urgent need for proactive policies and multilateral participatory initiatives to monitor and combat operations. The research paper proposed a set of roles that think tanks can play to overcome the challenges of terrorist groups’ use of artificial intelligence systems, including their constructive role in enhancing cooperation between government agencies, technology companies, and think tanks. To develop innovative and effective solutions to address the threats resulting from the use of artificial intelligence by extremist groups, in addition to analyzing case studies and drawing conclusions from them to understand how terrorist groups exploit artificial intelligence and how to confront it.
The paper recommended expanding the role of think tanks in defining the ethical responsibilities of companies. To ensure that the artificial intelligence tools they produce are not used, think tanks and research centers can also enhance intellectual exchange, experiences, and knowledge among actors in the field of confronting the threats resulting from the use of artificial intelligence by terrorist groups, in addition to their contribution to shaping Arab awareness, and supporting mechanisms to confront the use of artificial intelligence by… by extremist groups, as well as the effectiveness of think tanks and research centers in anticipating the future of this phenomenon, and their contribution to developing mechanisms to confront it in the future.
On the other hand, “Trends” participated with a group of its latest research and various knowledge publications in the exhibition accompanying the second annual forum of think tanks in the Arab countries.
