Liwa hosts the final chapter.. Abu Dhabi leads the global scene in “Dune 3”
The Liwa Desert in Abu Dhabi catches the eye, once again, by topping the opening scenes of the first teaser for the anticipated third part of the science fiction saga, “Dune.” In charming panoramic shots, the towering sand dunes of the emirate are evident. To embody the legendary planet “Arrakis”, confirming the essential presence of the Emirati capital as an authentic partner in the making of this global production, which won “Oscar” awards.
This concluding part comes under the signature of international director Denis Villeneuve, bringing together an elite group of Hollywood’s brightest stars, led by Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Florence Pugh, along with a group of creatives, such as: Anna Taylor-Joy and Robert Pattinson. The Liwa Desert formed the main stage for this work, which began production in July 2025, as an extension of a success story that began with the first and second parts in the years: 2021 and 2024, where the unique terrain of Abu Dhabi became a visual symbol, inseparable from the film’s global identity.
In conjunction with this momentum, the film’s official accounts revealed promotional glimpses, focusing on the central characters, amid global anticipation for the premiere, scheduled for mid-December 2026, distributed by Warner Brothers.
This strategic cooperation reflects the pioneering role of the Creative Media Authority Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, with production support from Image Nation Abu Dhabi, and professional local services from Epic Films. The film also highlights the success of the cash back discount program offered by the emirate, which has become a magnet for attracting more than 180 major film and television productions, consolidating Abu Dhabi’s position as a premier destination for international filmmakers aspiring to transform imagination into a stunning visual reality.
