He continued: “And I entered history as the first celebration of the 100th birthday of a living American president.”
At the time, the concert raised more than $1.2 million and also included the display of recorded messages from other presidents. The concert also presented dozens of musical works in the presence of thousands.

In February 2023, Carter entered a nursing home for the first time, while some relatives believed he only had a few days left to live.
At the time, Barbara Pierce, CEO of Connecticut Hospice, commented, “We are all rooting for Jimmy Carter,” according to what CBS News reported.

At the age of 98, Carter suffered from major health problems, including skin cancer, and he also suffered from the spread of cancer to his liver and brain.
In February 2023, the late US President Jimmy Carter decided to stop receiving health care in the hospital, and move to his home to receive end-of-life care.
The Carter Center stated at the time that President Carter preferred to spend “the remainder of his life with his family,” but it would not mention the motive behind this decision.
