المملكة: The Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate launches the “Citrus Season”
By holding the citrus season, the Authority aims to drive economic growth through effective community initiatives and sustainable development projects, as it provides the people and residents with a vital platform to market their crops, which produce thousands of tons of fruits annually during the period between November and February, thus contributing to the agricultural and economic renaissance of the governorate.

This event is an opportunity to highlight the diversity of citrus fruits that AlUla farms are famous for, as it hosts more than 5,000 farms with 405,000 trees of 29 different varieties, including oranges, sweet lemons, tarring, sugar oranges, mandarin tangerines, clementines, grapefruit, and kumquats. .
The agricultural area of these farms extends over 701 hectares, and produces 14 thousand tons of citrus annually, which reflects the vital role of AlUla in enhancing the agricultural sector and supporting economic diversification in the Kingdom, as this production represents part of the Kingdom’s total annual production of 160 thousand tons.

A unique experience
The Authority attaches great importance to the development of the agricultural sector in Al-Ula. To enhance economic opportunities, raise competitiveness among producers, provide more opportunities for people, and provide a unique experience for visitors through a group of interactive activities that reflect the importance of agriculture in the present and future of the governorate.
This year’s citrus season will witness the establishment of special display platforms for productive families and farmers, and various activities for families, residents and visitors, in addition to a training course aimed at providing families and chefs with the necessary skills to use citrus fruits in preparing various types of sweets and foods to display in the market.
In addition to the AlUla date season, it constitutes an important economic tributary that reflects the agricultural richness that AlUla enjoys, as dates and citrus fruits contribute to supporting the local economy and enhancing the presence of AlUla products in the local and regional markets, in a way that supports the Authority’s objectives to achieve sustainable development.
