Two people were killed and 20 injured as a result of a fireworks explosion in Hawaii

Authorities said that a fireworks explosion on New Year’s Eve in a neighborhood on the island of Honolulu in the US state of Hawaii killed two people and injured 20 others.
The Honolulu Fire Department said in a statement that the incident occurred just before midnight outside a home.

The neighborhood is located near Honolulu International Airport and a joint base for the US Air Force and Navy, east of the USS Arizona World War II Memorial at Pearl Harbor.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said that two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and the other 20 victims were taken to hospitals.
The Fire Department explained that it was investigating the cause of the explosion, and said that it did not have details regarding the circumstances of the accident.
She also indicated that there was no fire in the house, and the victims were not immediately identified.
