Russia declares a state of emergency in Crimea.. What happened?
This comes as an oil spill was spotted on the beaches of Sevastopol, the largest city in Crimea.

The oil leaked from two tankers that were struck by a storm about three weeks ago in the Kerch Strait, near eastern Crimea, about 250 kilometers from Sevastopol, which is located in the southwest of the peninsula.
“Today a regional state of emergency was declared in Sevastopol,” regional governor Mikhail Razvogayev said on the Telegram application.
Razvojayev pointed out that the oil stain was found on four beaches in the region and was immediately removed by local authorities in cooperation with volunteers.
There is no pollution
He stressed that there is no large-scale pollution of the coastline in Sevastopol.”
Razvogayev’s announcement came after authorities in the Krasnodar region in southern Russia declared a region-wide state of emergency last week.
While oil continued to drift to the coastline, after one tanker ran aground and another was damaged on December 15.
