Winds began to gain strength across Southern California on Tuesday, with forecasters warning of “devastating and life-threatening” winds that could last for days.

The National Weather Service said that the strongest storm to hit the Santa Ana area in more than a decade will begin in the afternoon across Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and reach its peak in the early hours of tomorrow, Wednesday, when wind speeds reach 80 miles (129 kilometers). per hour.

Power lines fall

Isolated gusts could exceed 100 mph in the mountains and foothills, and the National Weather Service warned of the possibility of downed power lines and the crushing of large trucks, trailers and mobile homes.
Strong sea storms will also cause dangerous conditions off the coast of Orange and Los Angeles counties, including Catalina Island, as well as possible delays and disruptions at local airports.
On Tuesday morning, firefighters responded to a group of small fires burning near homes in Los Angeles County, and they rushed to extinguish the flames before increasing winds caused them to spread further.
