A massive fire that broke out yesterday, Tuesday, near Los Angeles, California, forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes located in the hills overlooking the large American city, according to what the authorities announced, who warned that the fire was spreading strongly due to strong winds.
The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood below the Santa Monica Mountains, northwest of the city, which is filled with villas, each priced at millions of dollars.
Within hours, the fire destroyed approximately 1,200 hectares.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said during a press conference on Tuesday evening that authorities counted “many buildings that have already been destroyed” as a result of the fire.
The authorities explained that they had issued orders to about 30,000 people to evacuate their homes due to the danger of fire.
No injuries have been reported so far.
A resident of the neighborhood told local TV channel KTLA, “I never thought that the wind could have such an impact on a fire.”
He added that he saw “tongues of flame rising 100 meters” into the air.

Many residents were evacuated in panic after they were only able to take with them a small number of their belongings and pets.
Many others found themselves stuck in heavy traffic, including Kelsey Trainor, who said, “There was nowhere to go. People abandoned their cars” and fled on foot.
She added, “Everyone was honking their horns, and fire was surrounding us from every direction, from the right and the left… It was terrifying.”
The fire caused a huge cloud of smoke that could be seen from anywhere in the big city.
The fire broke out at the worst time for the city of Los Angeles, which is experiencing high winds.
