Dubai Roads opens a new two-lane bridge on Sheikh Rashid Road

The Roads and Transport Authority opened the second bridge as part of the work of the fourth phase of the Shindagha Corridor Development Project. This bridge serves traffic coming from the intersection of Al Mina Street with Sheikh Rashid Street and heading to the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street with Sheikh Rashid Street. The bridge is 605 meters long, with a capacity of two lanes and a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour. The fourth phase includes the implementation of four bridges with a total length of approximately 3.1 km, and their capacity is estimated at approximately 19,400 vehicles per hour for all lanes.

The Authority’s implementation of the Shindagha Axis development project represents a translation of the wise leadership’s directives towards keeping pace with the continuous development witnessed by the region located along the axis, and accommodating the needs of urban and population growth, by enhancing the road network and the flow of traffic in that region.

The first bridge was opened in December 2024. This bridge provides smooth traffic flow coming from the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street and Sheikh Rashid Street, heading to Al Mina Street and Falcon Intersection. The bridge is about 1,335 meters long, has a capacity of three lanes, and has a capacity of about 4,800 vehicles per hour.

It is planned to complete the implementation of the other bridge during the second quarter of 2025, which will serve traffic coming from Al Mina Street and heading to the intersection of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street with Sheikh Rashid Road, with a length of 1,210 metres, a capacity of three lanes, and a carrying capacity estimated at approximately 4,800 vehicles per hour. the hour. As well as the completion of the bridge, which will serve traffic coming from Al Mina Street and heading to Al Wasl Road, with a length of 780 metres, a capacity of three lanes and a capacity estimated at about 4,800 vehicles per hour.

The scope of work for the fourth phase also includes the completion of a new bridge in the third quarter of 2025, serving traffic coming from Jumeirah Road and heading to Al Mina Street and Falcon Interchange, with a length of 985 metres, a capacity of two lanes, and a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour.

The project also includes developing 4.8 km of roads, in addition to developing surface intersections on Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street, and constructing two pedestrian bridges, the first on Sheikh Rashid Street, and the second on Al Mina Street. The project also includes road lighting works. Traffic systems, rainwater drainage network, and irrigation systems network.

The Shindagha Corridor development project is one of the largest projects currently being implemented by the Authority. It extends along Sheikh Rashid Street, Al Mina Street, Al Khaleej Street, and Cairo Street, with a length of 13 kilometers, and includes the development of 15 intersections. Due to its size, it was divided into five phases, and the axis serves the Deira and Bur Dubai regions. In addition to a number of development projects such as: Dubai Islands, Deira Waterfront, and Dubai City The number of people served by the project is estimated at one million people, and the development of the axis contributes to providing free traffic movements along the Shindagha axis, raising the capacity and efficiency of the roads, reducing the travel time from 104 minutes to 16 minutes by the year 2030, and raising the level of transportation. Traffic safety, and the value of the savings from reducing travel time is estimated at 45 billion dirhams over 20 years.
