Winners of"Zayed Sustainability Award": The UAE’s support enhances the sustainability of innovations globally

ABU DHABI, 14 JANUARY / WAM / Winners of the Zayed Sustainability Prize 2025 stressed the importance of the great support provided by the UAE for their innovations in various fields, praising the opportunities that the award provides them to expand the impact of their innovative solutions globally.
They said in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the World Future Energy Summit held in Abu Dhabi, that the Zayed Sustainability Prize represents an important platform to support projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development, stressing that this support reflects the UAE’s commitment to promoting innovation and sustainability on a global level. .
Dr. expressed. Rhett Butler, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Australian Sky Goose Foundation, winner of the Zayed Sustainability Prize in the Water category, expressed his appreciation for the award’s role in strengthening his organization’s efforts to expand the scope of innovative solutions, targeting countries such as Bhutan.
He pointed out that the Foundation’s winning of the award was the result of developing an innovative system for treating water in a safe and sustainable manner, based on filtering water using simple techniques that do not require electricity or chemicals, which provides safe drinking water for low-income communities.
Abdul Latif Olasipikan, founder of Navarm Foods from Nigeria, and the winner in the food category, expressed his thanks to the UAE for its continued support, expressing his hope to expand the scope of the solution to 24 Nigerian states soon.
He explained that Navarm Foods won for inventing hybrid food dryers powered by solar energy that aim to reduce food waste and address post-harvest problems in Nigeria, as it enables farmers to dry their crops and preserve them for longer periods.
A speaker from Happy Land International School in the UAE, winner of the Education category for the Middle East and North Africa region, reviewed their innovative construction project using bricks made from coconut fiber and algae.
She explained that the project contributes to absorbing carbon dioxide and improving air quality, and aims to reduce carbon emissions and improve the environment in areas affected by air pollution, noting that the project reflects their commitment to sustainability and seeks to improve the environment in different communities.
