Abu Dhabi, January 15 / WAM / Osama Amir Fadl, Assistant Undersecretary for the Industrial Accelerators Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, said that sustainability constitutes a fundamental pillar of the 300 billion project, which contributes to reaching the goal of achieving climate neutrality.
Fadl added, in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, that the Ministry has introduced new standards for national content certificates that give companies that adopt sustainability standards priority in obtaining a larger share of government purchases, in addition to the entities participating in the program.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology is working to stimulate industrial transformation towards sustainable practices using advanced technology, providing competitive financing, and activating partnerships with government and private agencies.
He said that the Ministry has launched many initiatives and projects in support of sustainability, the most prominent of which is the roadmap to reduce carbon in the industrial sector during COP28 as a comprehensive national initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the industrial sector, and is integrated with global efforts to achieve climate neutrality in 2050, in addition to the Industrial Sustainability Alliance with the aim of promoting applications. Green Technology brings together leading companies to develop sustainable solutions such as green hydrogen and solar energy.
He added that the projects supporting sustainability included “financing environmentally friendly industries and providing competitive financing in cooperation with the Emirates Development Bank and other local banks, including clean energy solutions and improving operational efficiency in factories, in addition to issuing a number of legislations supporting renewable energy, such as “a law allowing factories to generate renewable energy to reduce dependence.” on traditional energy sources, and legislation encouraging the recycling of industrial waste and converting it into production inputs, which reduces operational costs in a way that enhances the circular economy, in addition to a comprehensive program for energy demand management in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure that encourages industries to adopt energy efficiency technologies and use energy sources. “Clean.”
