"Youth for sustainability" Future horizons are opened during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week
ABU DHABI, 16 JANUARY / WAM / The “Youth for Sustainability” initiative, led by “Masdar”, continues to strengthen its efforts in empowering youth in the field of sustainability on the sidelines of the activities of “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025”, which is organized under the slogan “Integration of sectors for a sustainable future.” The initiative aims to train one million young people by 2030, through innovative educational programs that focus on developing skills and knowledge related to sustainability, in line with the requirements of future jobs.
The initiative revolves around qualifying young people and providing them with the necessary tools to confront the growing climate challenges, with a focus on finding innovative solutions that contribute to building a sustainable future. The “Sustainability Ambassadors” program provides participants with an integrated educational experience that includes field visits to Masdar’s pioneering projects, in addition to unique opportunities. To participate in global events such as the COP29 conference.
The program also seeks to provide young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to become leaders in the field of sustainability, through continuous training that integrates them into activities and events throughout the year, most notably “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week,” which is an ideal platform to present ideas and contribute to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In a parallel context, the “Future Sustainability Leaders” program stands out, which provides international students and young professionals with the opportunity to communicate directly with global leaders in the field of sustainability, by participating in prestigious international conferences such as “New York Climate Week,” where they gain knowledge about the latest policies and best practices in In this field, the program also includes practical training opportunities that enhance effective communication skills and contribute to developing innovative solutions that contribute to achieving global sustainable development goals.
The “Youth for Sustainability” platform continues to support innovation in the environmental and technological fields, and works to enhance advanced skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, while employing the latest artificial intelligence technologies to develop sustainable climate solutions.
The platform also hosted a wide range of interactive events and workshops, most notably the “Youth for Sustainability Forum,” which brought together experts and innovative entrepreneurs in interactive sessions and important panel discussions, along with keynote speeches from prominent figures in the field of sustainability.
The “Out of the Laboratory” exhibition, one of the most prominent stations of the platform, witnessed the innovative market presentation of the latest climate solutions and technologies developed by startups and student projects, including the contributions submitted by the platform participants.
“Youth Communication” workshops were organized, which provided an opportunity to provide young people with the necessary information on climate issues, in addition to integrating them into simulated climate negotiation experiences, in addition to the “Climate Innovation Competition Pitch Day”, where young people presented innovative ideas aimed at Finding effective solutions to water scarcity challenges.
