المملكة: Implementing 118 water and environmental projects worth 5 billion riyals in 2024
The National Water Company revealed that it completed 118 water and environmental projects during the year 2024 in all regions of the Kingdom at a cost exceeding 5.57 billion riyals to serve 1.8 million beneficiaries.
This came during a workshop it held in the city of Dammam in which it reviewed the project sector’s achievements and the targets for the year 2025 as part of an initiative aimed at raising the efficiency of its projects’ performance.
The company explained that its portfolio of capital projects exceeded 51 billion riyals to implement 677 development projects in the water and sanitation sector with the aim of increasing service coverage, raising the number of beneficiaries, improving the efficiency of drinking water distribution, in addition to removing environmental damage and improving the quality of services provided to citizens and residents.
The workshop reviewed the company’s achievements during the year, as 80 water services projects were implemented at a cost of 2.73 billion riyals, and 38 wastewater services projects were implemented at a cost of 2.84 billion riyals. These projects included the establishment of 3.2 million linear meters of water and sewage lines and networks and increasing the operational capacities of wastewater treatment plants to reach to 478 thousand cubic meters per day and increasing the capacity of purification plants by 55 thousand cubic meters per day in addition to constructing 51 tanks. Water with a total capacity of more than a quarter of a million cubic metres.
The workshop highlighted the start of implementing 376 new water and sanitation services projects in various regions of the Kingdom at a total cost exceeding 28 billion riyals. These projects aim to raise service coverage rates, achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and enhance service delivery to citizens with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
