Qassim Health Council launches the “Advanced Diabetes” project to reduce diabetes complications

The Qassim Health Council launched the “Advanced Diabetes” project, as the first project of its kind based on the modern care model for diabetes complications, with the aim of improving the quality of health care provided to diabetics, early detection of patients suffering from complications and transferring them to specialized clinics under the supervision of integrated medical teams. The group explained that the project was launched in its first phase from the Horizon Primary Health Care Center in the city of Buraidah, as it aims to help patients control blood sugar levels and reduce the development of complications to ensure a better healthy life for them.

The project aims to serve 300 patients per month in the first phase, with plans to expand in the future to increase absorptive capacity. The project relies on an integrated care model, where periodic examinations for patients with type 2 diabetes are conducted in the health center by the family medicine team, and these examinations include periodic laboratory tests. Periodic examination of the feet, and smart screening for retinopathy using advanced medical technologies.

The Qassim Assembly indicated that the project aims to early detect diabetes complications, improve control of sugar levels through integrated treatment plans, and reduce the number of medical visits by integrating health services into unified stations, which contributes to facilitating the patient’s treatment journey and achieving the best health results.
