Experts recommend comforting the skin to get rid of product fatigue

In light of the acceleration of the world of beauty and the multiplicity of skin care products, many women find themselves facing a complex daily routine that includes dozens of products, from serums and creams to scrubs and masks, thinking that a large number of steps is the best way to healthy skin. However, skin care experts point out that this excess may sometimes lead to the opposite result, creating the need for what is known as Skin Fasting.

Skin comfort means temporarily stopping the use of effective products and strong compounds, and being satisfied with the minimum basic care, with the aim of giving the skin an opportunity to restore its natural balance and vital functions, such as cell regeneration and regulating the secretion of natural oils.

Specialists explained that frequent use of products may exhaust the skin barrier due to the interaction of active ingredients, such as acids, retinol, and vitamins, which leads to redness, sensitivity, dryness, or the appearance of sudden pimples despite adhering to the daily routine. Excessive exfoliation and harsh cleansing may also weaken the skin’s protective barrier and make it more susceptible to damage.

Experts pointed out that there are clear signs that indicate that the skin needs rest, including unusual sensitivity, a tingling feeling when using familiar products, dullness, constant dryness, or increased shine as a result of disturbed oil secretion.

During the skin rest period, which may extend from three days to two weeks depending on the type and condition of the skin, it is recommended to limit yourself to a simple protein that includes a gentle cleanser, a fragrance-free moisturizer, and sunscreen during the day, while stopping the use of acids, retinol, strong vitamin C, and exfoliants.

Specialists confirmed that this period helps repair the skin barrier, reduce inflammation, and improve the skin’s ability to produce ceramides and natural oils, which is reflected in its freshness and natural glow. On the other hand, it is not recommended to fully rest the skin in the event of medical treatments prescribed by a doctor or in certain skin conditions, except under the supervision of a specialist.

Care experts confirm that returning to the routine after the end of the rest must be gradual, with the introduction of products one after the other and monitoring the skin’s reaction, to determine what it actually needs without excess.

Skin comfort is a conscious step towards more balanced care, which helps to understand the real needs of the skin, reduce unnecessary consumption of products, and achieve healthy skin from within that does not depend only on the temporary effect of products.
