Khorfakkan Theater Festival reflects the richness and diversity of local culture

Sharjah, January 20, WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the tenth session of the Khor Fakkan Theater Festival will begin on January 25, with the participation of a distinguished group of theatrical works directed at children and adults, and many traditional and modern performances.

The Sharjah Department of Culture said during the press conference held today that the festival will witness many entertainment programs and competitions that reflect the richness and diversity of local culture, and embody the vital presence of the “Father of Arts” in all aspects of life.

Performances and programs are presented in open spaces, with the aim of diversifying and expanding theatrical platforms and reaching the largest number of theater lovers.

The festival’s activities will begin with a massive march from the Khor Fakkan Club for the Disabled, led by a military music band, a group of horsemen, circus and puppet performers, and vintage vehicle enthusiasts, in addition to school and scout teams, and many theater and television drama stars.

When the march arrives at Khor Fakkan Park, the activities of the tenth session of the festival continue sequentially on three adjacent platforms, marked with red, green, and blue colors and prepared with all the necessary sound and light equipment.

The audience will be welcomed in the main square of the festival with interludes of the popular show “Al-Ayyala Art” on the Red Stage, followed by school theater performances, where the Atika Bint Zaid School for Basic Education will present its show “Morgan,” followed by the Grammar School for Basic Education with its show “The Braid and Colors.” Both shows will be presented on The Blue Theater, two of the performances that won prizes in the last session of the Sharjah School Theater Festival.

The festival will witness the presentation of the play “The Guest” by director Muhammad Abdullah, from the performances of the Kalba Short Play Festival, and it will be presented on the blue stage, then the acrobatic performances segment will come, and after that the audience will move to the green stage, where the Al Qasimia University mobile band will present its show “Al-Fukhara”, which won a large share. Among the prizes in the last session of the Sharjah Scout Theater Festival, followed by an segment of the popular show “Art of Dan,” which will be presented on the Red Theater.

The festival activities will continue as the Green Theater will witness the “Festival Princess Competition,” which is a competition directed at women, where they will compete to wear the most beautiful and strangest theatrical costumes, and there will be a competition for young girls (for the age group under fourteen) entitled “The Bride of the Festival,” which will be presented on the Blue Stage.

The program of performances includes a children’s play entitled “The Tree of Wonders” presented on Azraq. It is directed by Adnan Al Balushi and produced by Ras Al Khaimah Theater. It was crowned with the Best Show Award in the eighteenth session of the Emirates Children’s Theater Festival.

After presenting a series of local, Asian and African performances, the audience will watch the comedy play “Escape After Sunset.”
