Al-Salloum: One-third of the Chamber’s Board of Directors members represent “small and medium-sized enterprises”

Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Al-Saloum, confirmed that more than a third of the members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors represent small and medium enterprises, which highlights the importance of the role that these institutions can play in determining the directions and policies of the Chamber, indicating that he belongs to these institutions through his presidency of the Association Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Development Company, which has dedicated its efforts to defending, protecting and serving these institutions at various levels.

He explained that the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry adopts a wide range of positive initiatives aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and promoting a culture of innovation, which directly contributes to creating qualitative opportunities for the development of small and medium enterprises. He explained that the Chamber’s strategy depends on providing integrated services aimed at enabling these enterprises to Achieving sustainable growth and linking it to international economies.

Al-Salloum pointed out that the Chamber signed a wide range of important agreements to support entrepreneurs and facilitate the expansion process towards foreign markets, which provides great opportunities to expand the scope of their business and enhance their competitiveness in global markets.

He explained that these agreements include providing training and qualification programs that raise the efficiency of entrepreneurs and help them acquire new skills in the fields of marketing, export, and project management, noting that the Chamber is constantly working to launch innovative initiatives aimed at overcoming the obstacles facing small and medium enterprises, among the most prominent. These initiatives are cooperation with “Tamkeen” to support easy financing programs and provide economic incentives that help it grow and expand.

He stressed the importance of integrating roles and enhancing cooperation between the legislative authority and the executive authority, along with the Chamber, in order to support and protect small and medium enterprises to ensure the sustainability of these institutions in the interest of the growth of the national economy.

He praised the role of the Chamber in supporting and developing the role of these institutions in the national economy, especially since it had previously recommended, during its second conference of committees, a number of recommendations that were submitted to the government, perhaps the most prominent of which is the development of appropriate programs and incentives to urge small and medium enterprises to accelerate the digital transformation, which contributes to facilitating Entering the e-commerce markets, preparing the Bahraini merchant to benefit from e-commerce by providing the necessary advice and training, taking care of the companies that provide the e-commerce ecosystem in Bahrain, and considering the possibility Establishing a non-profit platform that allows local small and medium companies to display their services and goods (B2B or B2C) under the supervision of relevant authorities, including the Bahrain Chamber.
