المملكة: Jubail Industrial City turned from desert land to a global center

The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khuraif, participated in a session entitled “The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu-a sustainable model for industrial cities management”, held within the activities of the Saudi House initiative at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum 2025 held in the Swiss city of Davos.
Al -Khuraif affirmed during his participation in the session the achievement of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu with a significant success thanks to its strategic vision that focuses on the foresight of the future and its active international partnerships, including cooperation with international companies such as Parsons and Bechtel, and these foundations enabled them, along with discipline and consistency, to maintain knowledge and experience; This strengthens its ability to adapt to changes and adopt modern technologies, to remain a major driver for industrial growth in the Kingdom.

He pointed to the great transformation witnessed in the industrial city of Jubail, as it turned from a desert land into a global industrial center that provides an advanced infrastructure, as well as distinguished educational and health services.
He added: “The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu contributes to contributing to supporting emerging sectors such as sports and tourism, in line with economic diversification efforts at the national level, and the authority also works to ensure sustainability and reduce dependence on government financing; through the privatization of some vital sectors such as health care and education With the aim of achieving financial independence by 2030.

The session reviewed the experience of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu within 50 years in managing industrial cities, as well as exploring opportunities and challenges related to building and managing sustainable industrial cities in the future.
